How do you do this
Coinhunter:
I have so many questions about upgrading our website everyone might get mad at me for asking for help. But I gotta have some and I am not too proud to beg.
Our website is a not for profit group that is about metal detecting , treasure hunting etc. Our forums have numerous members and as they join they are given a member number assigned by the SMF software. I have had to delete several members for failure to log in and post and the numbers are all screwed up. I need to learn how to edit these numbers and reset them to reflect our actual number of members and have them in numerical order. I am OC about numbers being in order.
My second problem deals with changing themes and finding them. I would love to change the website theme to coordinate with the event or season. Can someone help me learn how to do this and show me where I can find themes for downloading please?
Thanks to everyone in advance. It won't let me post links to our websites so you will just have to email me for them.
I believe if I done everything right, I just upgraded the site to version 1.1.12
Thanks again and God Bless,
CoinHunter aka Ralph

you are best to NEVER change the numbering of the members as it would require MANY changes in a lot of places in the database, then if you succeed in that the next new member may not take on the next number in your new order so you got to do all the work again which may break the forum.
for themes take a look here http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/

Welcome to SMF.
As Illori stated, changing the numbering system would require lots of changes, thus we don't recommend doing it. Feel free to browse our online documentation for doing lots of other basic things with SMF.

Thanks for the replies folks. I guess the numbering would best be left alone. It is just irritating to me and the other members when we log on and see in the stats that the most on line ever is like 170 when all of us know we have never had 170 people on our website at one time ever. Perhaps I should have ask for help on fixing it where it really tells the number of people online than changing the numbering. Is this a simple fix or correction and by simple is it something a hillbilly could do who is all thumbs and not much brains. Lol Thanks for the help and keep it coming. You can always offer to "help" me via email. Coinhunter@Charter.net I found a mod on here to help me stop all these "spam bots" i think is what they are called, from signing up on the website can someone help with the install or is it an automatic install thingy? It is the mod anti_spam_ver_ques_1...zip.

At first it sounds like you mean renumber users so you don't have any gaps, which is impossible, as people already pointed out, but your next post sounds like either you aren't accounting for bots/spiders/guests being on with logged in users (10 people and 160 bots/spiders/guests = 170 users on) or there might be a problem with your stats data.
