Ten Things Most Americans Don’t Know About America.

There goes a few minutes of life I will never get back. Like why did I even have to click the link.

I know a few things though Americans don't know about America. For first I live in New Mexico which is one of the 50 states, some ignorant people believe I live in Mexico.
As for the ones that think highly of themselves they all live in Texas and Oklahoma.  ;D

I know Yanks are weird and nasty.

My wife watches all that CSI stuff... ;)

I've just come back from a two week holiday in the US, and while I agree with the comments that the article is full of hyperbole and inaccuracies, I can see exactly where the seeds of it come from, because I went there as an outsider looking inwards.

For example, there is a distinct attitude of superiority there, partly media manipulation and partly I think because there have never been prolonged border conflicts (e.g. compared to the hundreds of years of war in Europe between the powers) which give a nation a sense of humility.

I don't think people are 'unaware' of these things, but the media does give a sense of how America is the best, etc. and it does skew the national attitude somewhat.

K@:
Maybe it's an "Empire" thing?

Britain had similar attitudes, not that long ago, (Indeed, some still do)

Arantor:
I don't think it's entirely an Empire thing, because even going back a couple of generations, even before WWII, the UK still had a sense of national humility.
