Mod Site

Arantor:
That would imply you'd actually be storing both the previous and current versions of the package - and given that it's done essentially through a cousin of the attachments system, it'd be fairly hard to manage that efficiently.

SoLoGHoST:
You can create a section with all of the packages on there.  Once you begin reviewing a mod, you can provide the ability to LOCK IT, meaning, you can lock it so that the mod stays within the package area, but is still allowed to be edited by the Mod Author only.  (Once locked, this can do 1 of 2 things, copy the file package over to another folder where it can be stored and into another database table, so that it can't be removed and still provide the Author to edit the mod, or Completely put a freeze on attachments for that Mod until it is fully reviewed). Ofcourse, I don't even see the harm in locking it altogether until after the review is OVER, and than it can be unlocked so that the Mod Author can now edit out the Attachment, and/or Upload new package attachments.  Whether it is approved or not.  Than, we can even automate that process by re-adding it to the queue, if that is what you are going for.  Honestly, I like it the way it is now.  Once approved, the Mod Author can make changes to it, re-upload it, to a newer version without having to go through the Approval Process all over again.  But it's whatever you guys think it should be honestly because it's on your site, and in the spotlight.

But mainly, I posted that because, obviously, the Mod Package was downloaded to begin with before it was updated by the Mod Author, so someone on the SMF Customization Team should have that package somewhere.  That package that is still being reviewed can be compared to the updated package file by file, running it through a file difference program or online.  Just thinking that this could save some time during the Approval Process.

Runic:
Pete  mod site is being re-written maybe it could be done efficiently through the new system.

Yoshi:
I've been running through the queue which was done in two hours. Commented on almost every mod, started a new topic on some. It has been 3 or 4 days later, and nobody has replied to any of the mods (one was rejected but that's it).

That said I am for the voting system + the unapproved mods idea. I think the site should reply to the topic of an approved mod once it reached xx stars (1.5 stars out of 5?)

Besides I do not think the community approval thing is going to work either, agreeing with the point made.

Suki:
I haven't replied yet simply because I have a list which I follow and I don't like to start multiple topics at once, makes me lose focus, I prefer to keep 1 mod at a time, once its finish, move to the next one and so on.

The community approval system highly depends on mod authors to actually use it, we can suggest to them to post over there but as always, we can't force them.

Another big part is for the customizers to actually use it too, if I'm the only one reviewing mods over there then we can't really expect the community to be involved since we cannot even push our own initiatives.
