Minor issue with upgrade script
(1/1)
Take:
SMF Version: 2.0.2
Upgrading from 1.1.6
I ran into an rather annoying issue during upgrade, even if the issue was caused by my own misconfigurations. I moved our forum into new server, which ran smoothly and attempted to upgrade the site from 1.1.6 to 2.0.2 with large upgrade package.
Initally I ran into an 'Unknown error!' -message regardless of whatever I tried and the reason was misconfigured URL on themes-table on database. When I fixed the URL everything went trough smoothly, but it took quite a while to locate the issue. Obivously I could see missing css -files etc, but I tought that it's only styles which are missing, but obviously there's some javascript/something which is required to go trough the whole process.
I doubt that I'm not the only one testing upgrade on another setup before going on to production and it's quite possible that admins will think like me, that theme path contains only some layout thingies and things will get fixed when upgrade is performed on live system with actual URL's and paths.
What I'd like to see is some message if there isn't required js-functions available, instead of 'Unknown error!'. This shouldn't be too big of a deal to fix either and atleast for me and few helpful souls on irc-channel it would have saved couple of hours.
K@:
I moved this to the upgrade board, Take.
I'm not sure that I did the right thing, though, thinking about it. It kinda drops between the two.
Still, it can always be moved back, if required, ay? ;)
