Have you ever registered a trademark?

I'm just starting to research the process of registering a trademark.

I would love to hear from others that have already gone through the process.

Please share with me some does and don'ts that I should be aware of.

Not talking about my .com name if that is what you are referring to.
Not at this time anyway. I have something else in mind, but mostly just wondering how the process works right now.
