Htaccess - exclude subdirectory from a rule?

(1/2) > >>

đukela:
Hi

Is it possible to exclude one subdirectory from a htaccess rule? Or have a rule in a subdirectory-htaccess overriding a rule in a parent-htaccess?

I'm caching php files with htaccess in the root directory, but would like to disable caching in one subdirectory.

Tnx

Colin:
Sure, just make the adjustment to the htaccess and place that in the subdirectory you want it to apply to. The subdirectory htaccess will override the parent htaccess in the subdirectory and all recursive directories.

đukela:
Tried it. It doesn't work.
Actually, when checking that suggestion prior to posting, I found quite mixed opinions.
Some say subdirectory htaccess will override the one in higher directory, others say opposite.
From my trials, parent's htaccess takes precedence over child's

Do you have access to httpd.conf?

đukela:
No, I'm on shared hosting.
