Looking for 2.0 Mod which will Alert a Forum Members

Hello, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but I didn't see anywhere else to post it,  so...

I am looking for a mod compatible with 2.0.2 which will automatically send a PM to a member when the post contains that member's member name.  Here is an example...  I'll use "Klondike" as the member name.  His real name is, "Pete."

* I post on a thread that would be important to Pete, but I also include "Klondike" in the verbiage to notify Pete.
* I submit the post.
* The software/server recognizes the member name, "Klondike" is in the post.
* The server immediately sends a PM to "Klondike" with a link in the PM back to the pertinent post.

If this is not available, consider this a request.

Thank you.

There is no mod for this at present as far as I know and such a mod is going to be unreliable if a user happens to have a common word as their name, and/or the name has spaces in it.

I believe a mod was underway for detecting @username in a post but I believe that also had the same problem with regards to spaces in names.

Thank you for your reply.

Next best would be a mod that would add a "button" to each post like,  "Alert Member About Post" to identify the Member and allow a mini-message.   I know you understand what I mean, but I want to make sure *I'm* clear in my perfect world...

* I read and/or post on a thread.
* I want to alert "Pete" about the post and click on the "Alert Member About Post" button.
* I enter "Klondike" and a brief one-line message into the dialog and .
* The server software generates and sends Pete a PM like, "[MEMBERNAME] said [ONELINEMESSAGE] and would like you to take a look at this post... [LINKBACKTOPOST].  Thank you, the [FORUMNAME] Team."
Thoughts?

I can see what you want but I doubt it'll get built as it's fraught with all kinds of issues. The button on the post would be to alert who? The original poster or the member who replied just before you did or the member who posted a reply three pages ago.

Then there's the number of e-mails going out from such a mod which could cause your site to become listed as a spam site and similarly the huge number of messages which could be going into a member's inbox due to abuse by other members.

Would it not be easier just to encourage your members to use the notify button on topics and or boards they want to be told about?

Sorry to put a dampener on your idea however these are just my opinions on the subject. :-\
