how to: search engine to recognize two spellings of same word

hi. im not necessarily interested in all multiple spellings of various words. i just want the search engine to recognize one particular word that has two spellings and shows up all the time in our forums. is there any easy way to do this so that any search for one also shows the search results for the other at the same time automatically?

for clarification, i mean "color" will also show "colour"

I think you should create (and I mean you should code) a custom indexing function.
