Yes, and in the meantime, we have SMF 2, which is well-understood by experts such as yourself.

--- Quote ---Well..I am not sure I can agreed wholly on that, though you may be right in the assumption. SmCore will be quite another beast than SMF. But one of the things that is inspiring with SMF2 is the actual coding, the relatively easy to follow logic and perhaps not using OOP. Maybe its just me that feel that way - but the idea of modules that may or may not be made in addition to a new way of programming(said OOP), isn't very tempting atm. It implies that you have to write the key components yourself - but then you might just as well do a fork since the key components are exactly what SMF2 has right now.

+1 That's what I like about SMF the most.

I'd would bet that the SMF line lasts a lot longer when smCore makes a debut. I don't see SMF 2.X as the end.

Well, I do hope the excellent theme system of using layers and templates in SMF isn't abandoned in smCore. If it will be using something like Smarty I will never make any attempt to theme it. :P ToxG is workable though, last I heard(quite some time ago tbh) it was still the main focus.

I completely agree with you, something similar in my mind (if ToxG is more like smarty).. I probably won't try theming it either. I have not evaluated ToxG yet, I expect it will not require too much learning or its not similar to theming system of VB...
