I can't seem to edit "Extract and Upload the Install Archive" on the wiki.

Just the order of it.

You extract, then upload, normally.

"...it will need to be uploaded and extracted" just seemed a bit arse-upwards, as we say, over here.

Shelly did the edits, for me. :)

AngelinaBelle:
But what if I WANT to do it hte other way.  You know, it CAN BE DONE the other way.

I'm glad Shelly's back a little bit.

K@:
Oh, of course. You could upload it and let the server do all that.

It's not the... er... usual way, is it?

Or, is it?

AngelinaBelle:
It's not the way I do it. But it was definitely in the old documentation. So I just assumed it was one of the usual ways.
If you can do it that way, it could speed up the install, because you don't have to FTP over 9000 files from your desktop to the server.
You just have to extract all the files in-place on the server. You need access to your account's cpanel (or whatever) or unix shell login to do this, I believe -- something I don't have because my site is on a sub-account.

On the other hand, I see you want the wiki to emphasize the "usual" way of doing this, because this is what you and support team normally tell users to do.

So you win.  Let's sort of re-arrange this, to list the "easy" method first.  The quicker method would then be second, with "a quicker way to do this, if you have a way to extract files directly on the server ..." sort of thing.

I'll take another look at it in a few days.

Seems that it might be best to have and "either/or", then, for that.

I have to confess that I've never done it the other way. So, for me to put the details of how it's done might be fraught with pitfalls.

If you'd be so kind as to add that method, yourself, I'm sure it'd be appreciated.
