A strange question about [list]
deciph3red:
Well, I have been trying to organize a SMF board from a business standpoint with projects and progress on those projects.
LIST has become my favorite tool for keeping progress logged and assigning staff to other projects, but once the list gets pretty big it becomes a pain in the butt to try to add to it without having to try 15 ways to get it the way i want.
I noticed that toggling the view of the window from source to design seems to help alot in regards to being similar to an HTML editor, but im running into some issues and wasn't sure if there was documentation out there that can help me.
For example, in a list I would have the following:
* Link
* LinkIn the editor I would simply type what I want, and wrap it and hit list correct?
I would also hit ENTER to add a new bullet to the list, and hit SHIFT ENTER to exit the list.
Ok, so how about a sublist:
* first bullet
* second bullet
* first sub-item of second bullet
* second sub-item of second bullet
* third bullet
Seems easy enough right? Well, im having issues getting the open and and close brackets of the list figured out when using the editor. Its not as easy as hitting ENTER or even like in an html editor hitting TAB would add a sublist bullet.
My question is, is there an easier way to use the toggle view or editor to easily add and remove from the list without having to basically cut and paste a list within a list?

Did I post this in the wrong area?

This might have gone better in a support board even though it's a bit generic. This board is meant more for feedback on the software itself.
I can't think of a way to use the WYSI(S)WYG editor to do this.

Thanks for the response. Can a MOD move this post so I dont post duplicates and take up extra space :-)

That is not such a strange question.
The SMF WYSIWYG editor is not exactly like other WYSIWYG editors you may be familiar with, such as WORD.
Shift-Enter, as in WORD, inserts a new line.
The tab character, unlike in WORD doesn't work for indenting. It just takes you to the next element in the form -- the Post button.
The LIST button behaves differently, depending on whether you are in WYSIWYG mode or not
* While in WYSIWYG mode, the button pops the current line out of the list
* While in non-WYSIWYG mode, the button will add a nested list at the cursor.Neither of these seems ideal for what you want to do.
You could try, though
* starting the outer list
* flipping out of WYSIWYG mode with the button and hitting the list button again
* Popping back into WYSIWYG mode
* To edit your indented list
* Hitting the list button again to un-indent your list
It's a little bit fiddly, but if you are careful to have the cursor inside the [li]...[/li], you can get it to work.
