What does your desktop look like?
青山 素子:
I think the multitasking issue is more related to GNOME than Fedora. This is why I use the KDE spin. KDE has really improved since 4.0, and 4.8 is solid. I don't normally use hibernation, so I haven't tried that part, I usually just suspend.

--- Code: ---sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
--- End code ---
Logout, click the ubuntu icon, and select either Xubuntu or XFCE.
Kubuntu is kinda cool, too. I only tried it briefly though, because it felt too much like a jQuery powerd Windows 7 to me.
I also tried Lubuntu a while back, because it runs at about 200mb of RAM. Not a lot happening in the interface department with that one, which is probably the point.

Ah thanks, I'll try that out in a moment :)
I've tried Cinnamon, GNOME 3 and crap on this Ubuntu installation so yeah, I'm still at Unity. Gonna see if this one works for me.
EDIT: Thanks but XFCE and me aren't quite made for each other, lol, I'd even prefer KDE over that. In fact I'm going to give KDE a try again.
@ Motoko: I don't like KDE, too much effects and too less efficiency IMO.

Turn off KWin effects then. That's what I usually do on my notebook to lower CPU use.

Meh I just tried it again, didn't like it, even with disabled effects (it was dull without and too much of the good part with). Going to try cinnamon now, hope it doesn't crap up ubuntu again as I'm going to be mad then.

You can also try MATE, which has packages for many distributions and has focused on removing any potential GNOME conflicts so you can use it side-by-side.
