Shall post count be disabled the chit chat board? - Please vote
andrea:
This vote runs for 3 days. I suggest to disable post count on all chit chat boards. This would remove any temptation to post nonsense chit chat just to increase post count. The main purpose of this website is to be a support community for the Simpe Machine Forum program so only posts related to SMF should count at all...
Please vote or contribute your thoughts...

Isn't this the place for non-sense chit chat? There's many other boards for serious SMF related stuff.

I fail to see the relation between the post count of an individual and this "website" being a support community.
I think you are making a big presumtion that post counts have any significance. Yes people probably use them to judge others, but that's up to the people.
It would probably be best to turn off the post count in this particular area... if the community thinks a 'post count' means so much.
Well that's my opinion.

Exactly. So there would be many other boards for serious post count.

Not meaning in any sense to disable or close chit chat forums, Alienine. Only talking of not counting posts any more in order to remove any temptation for "post count postings". There was another discussion yesterday were people suggested to close or move threads from this forum into the test forum because posts would not count there. I thought if people care that much about post count the best would be to disable it in the whole chit chat foum.
For me personally post count is not an issue at all, I personally do not care at all for it. Looks like others might care more...
alienine:
I actually think it would be best to remove it from the topic list altogether and leave it in the profile page. This would probably shock and scare some people, but ultimately it wouldn't make any difference to the community and people would hopefully stop posting <4 word replies. If really needed, members who contribute a lot of quality discussion could be awarded with 'stars' or whatever (by fellow members).

I didn't mean anything like that heh. :)
I guess leaving this issue up to the users who care is a good idea.

Why not bring an end to the 'Word Association' Thread.
