winXP auto-connect on startup?

(1/1)

Seph|roth:
Does anyone know if it's possible to let WinXP Pro auto-connect you to the internet on startup? I know i can make it auto-connect without asking for login/pwd.. but i can't find an option to do this automatically on startup...

I'm using a standard winXP broadband connection btw

do you just want the browser to open on start up??

or does tour isp need a progan and auth to  connect first??

cause you can simpley make a   little .bat file

and let that run on start up
example if you wanted say netscape 7 to run
youd make a bat file

START Netscp.exe

save that at a .bat file

then  simple run that file
exec whateverunamed it.bat

put that bat file in

C:\Documents and Settings\**USERHERE**\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

you can use this to  fire any EXE on start up

I have WinXP pro to and this works for me - if you want the auto dialer to start dialing on startup with the run-of the mill local ISP mas and aol and other should work too, just go to my computer>left menu : My Network Places>left menu : View Network connections this will bring you to your Dial-up/lan high speed connections just drag your ISP to the start menu and put it in all programs>startup

and this should open the dialer when windows starts and start dialing if you've already provided the U:P for the account!

getting it in other things like those OSX style bars are a bit harder becouse they are links to the registery.

You can do it in Internet Tools - make it automatically connect with a specified connection.

The easiest way is to get a router and have it keep alive... then you'll be online the second you try to access the internet ;).
