Daubers:
Whats the easiest way to learn a graphics package?

I'm currently using the GIMP (the one that comes with most Linux distro's) and as always, my artistic nature is that of being able to draw stickmen with wobbly heads.

Wondered if there are any decent CHEAP graphics programs around that I can make buttons and things for my website in.

Cheers for any help

Fireworks is relatively simple to pick up and is on the same level with some packages that are much more expensive.

If you don't need that power, I'm sure there are lots of freebies out there that would possibly have more features than GIMP

As far as how to learn it...Go through the simple tutorials that the program comes with (if applicable) to learn the fundamentals.  From there, I usually just play around with things or check out online tutorials.  For Fireworks, there are TONS of sites with step by step walkthroughs that will have you looking like a pro in no time :)

I think Fireworks is the easiest, but also the least powerful in my experience.

Jasc Paint Shop Pro is fairly powerful, and also easy enough to use...
And so it Adobe Photoshop.  Most would say Photoshop is better, but I wouldn't say it's that much better.
