low cpu usage shoutbox needed

(1/3) > >>

staticvoid:
i first want to thank all the people here that make the software for us less able users.

i am in need of a low cpu usage shoutbox for 2.0 rc3. i am currently switching from vbulletin to smf. my host only allows 10% cpu usage, i tryed a ajax chat in my vbulletin forum and my site was suspended for too much cpu usage. i found  a  shoutbox called Inferno vBShout that worked well. now that i am switching i need a good shoutbox that wont get me suspended.

Arantor:
There basically isn't one. Every shoutbox consumes a lot of resources.

flapjack:
use 3rd party solution hosted outside your forum. downside is you won't be able to sync the users. look at wibya for example

staticvoid:
is there a way to turn the resources used down or is it that smf software uses alot of resources? im using a shoutbox in vbulletin without a problem i just have the refresh rate turned down to 15 seconds

Arantor:
No, just that most shoutboxes don't have an easy way to do it, though turning down the refresh rate doesn't solve the problem, it merely mitigates it.

And vB vs SMF is about the same.
