Retina compatible default theme
IvaliceAlliance:
With the new iPad and retina displays, I'd like the the default SMF theme (Curve) to be updated to be compatible with retina displays. Curve doesn't look too great on an iPad and has these weird glitches on the top right and left corners, and all the art looks blurry :(

Antechinus:
We don't control which images are used by Google ads, so the stripey banner isn't our problem. :)
The header and logo png's will be replaced anyway.
Kindred:
Works perfectly well on my iPad...
We do need a nice mobile theme or phone sized screens, but I see no problem with tablet displays of curve.
IvaliceAlliance:
If you look at the full size image, not the thumbnail, you'll see on the header that the top left and top right corner of the header have some sort of square artifact. Is that not visible on your iPad? Also all the rounded rectangles look pretty bad (very blurry/fuzzy from upscaling).
This article is about using CSS to serve the correct assets depending on the pixel ratio of the screen. Maybe this technique could be used for a high resolution Curve theme?

I wish I could make a retina version of curve that would work on any device with 2x pixel ratio, but I'm just not good enough at graphics to be able to remake the images at higher resolutions.
Antechinus:
We wont be using many images in the next version anyway. Most of the eye candy will be css3. Good article though, and we'll do something like that if it is necessary.
