& #8226; might substitute in the coded bullet character during editing -- I've often noticed this forum doing that. Try & bull; instead -- I would think it would work consistently in posts and signatures, but you'll have to experiment. Using the BBCode shouldn't present a problem, as the entity isn't substituted in until the post is displayed.

I had tried everything except for the BBCode up to that point and nothing was working at all. The BBCode, of course, works fine wherever I put it, so that seems to be the best overall solution to the problem. I appreciate all your help, MrPhil!
