Content is king is not correct.

I think Arantor is both serious and knowledgeable. As in, he's serious about his knowledge and not afraid to share his knowledge. Not much else I can do but respect that. :)

Arantor:
But you are looking down at them. The way you came out with 'it's for newbies' is a statement to the effect that you think it's beneath you, and that by extension the people who still trot that mantra out are beneath you. Substitute 'babies' for 'newbies' and you get the same meaning, like an older brother who looks at what his younger sibling does and decries it as 'it's for babies'.

There are still too many people who think that running a forum isn't about content and it's them that need guidance. The people who already know that content is king also know the more complex differentiation that you stated; you're not wrong there.

You were a newbie once, same as the rest of us. Imagine how you might feel if you read that as a newbie, you might feel insulted.

I'm not the same person I used to be. I won't stand for half the crap I used to and I'm sick of the number of people out there who seem to think that they're owed something without putting any work/effort/money/insert-other in of their own. I would also note that having since split up with my partner after almost ten years, I wouldn't say that I'm bitter exactly, but more that I have little to counterpoint the cynicism in my life.

Royalduke:
Well, do I have to apologize for saying newbies? I hear it all the time since a few of my friends are really into gaming... Guess it became a part of my lango.

But I didn't mean it in a bad way. I was a newbie once true but I would never mind being called newbie... eh, I guess different people have different tolerances.

Let's end all this here :) and just hug :P

Arantor:
Thanks for misinterpreting what I'm trying to say.

"Content is king is something for newbies..."

That's what you said. My problem with it isn't the fact you said 'newbies', it's the fact that you're dismissing the statement because it's beneath you.

Let me reword that in the manner I suggested.

"Content is king is something for babies."

It carries the same underlying meaning: you're still asserting that it's something that is a fundamental that has to be learned by those just starting out but you're doing so in a manner that you feel is beneath you. THAT's what I have a problem with. It's a lack of humility, something I've noticed shared by a lot of people these days.

nend:
Will I am the king of kings, now bring that content over here.  :P

No doubt though content is king, but not only for newbies, don't if you forget it and even if you don't, you can still fail. Maybe content is a unforgiving king, maybe a manipulative and conspiring queen. :D
