Message Board Hacked

(1/3) > >>

walleyekiller:
I am the administrator for a message board (musterroom.com) and wanted to let you all know there is a hacker out there that I fell victim too.  They got into my Simple Machines message board and somehow made everyones account information public and consolidated it on one page.  They also included home addresses, telephone numbers and a couple social security numbers.  I have no idea how they got that information because my site doesn't ask for or store any information other than username, email and password.

I have contacted the host to disable the site but wanted to relay this to you admins out there to remind you about protecting your sites.  My site is probably completely compromised and may be deleted, but I just wanted to relay the importance of staying as up to date as possible on your Malware, Spyware and AV.

Welcome to the forum, man!

Thanks for the info.

If your host has any ideas as to how they got it, we'd appreciate knowing, if you can let us know.

Gary:
If a site doesn't store the information, then logic dictates that it can't be published.

I sense this as spam.

K@:
Looks like an SMF site, though, from the error message. Looks like one of ours, dunnit?

Illori:
since they did not ask for the info, how can a hacker get that info appear on their forum in one page? sounds strange.
