is dmoz.org dead?

(1/2) > >>

Parham:
I've been trying to add my site to dmoz.org but nothing seems to be working.  I've sent several complaints and feedback, but that doesn't work either.  I searched google groups and the general idea seems to be that dmoz.org is dead.  Anyone know anyone who is a dmoz editor who can say otherwise?

Netscape is dead, is Dmoz too?

Joel:
I know someone on Sitepoint Forums that just recently became an editor, so it's not dead. From my experience, they do seem to be quite slow at responding to things, though.

Netscape the browser is dead, but Netscape the AOL division is still running. However, if AOL decided to stop hosting the ODP, it probably wouldn't take long to find another sponsor. The directory is used by quite a few major websites.

The only person I've worked with - editor of the dicussion boards section - is very responsive and I have nothing but good things to say about dmoz.org after contacting him. (or her, not sure.)

Parham:
I've contacted as many editors as I could in the "Computers" section.  I'm trying to get my page listed in the Computers/Internet/Cyberspace/Online_Communities/ category.  It's been well over 6 months that I've been trying.  I sent feedback, and added as many editors as I could find from the "Computers" section to my ICQ list in hopes that maybe one of them could do something.

The ODP isn't replying, the editors aren't talking... I don't know.  I desperately need to get my site in there because their listings go far and wide into a ton of other sites, but if the editors are dead, there's nothing I can do but complain to them until someone listens.
