[WiP Mod] SMF Wiki (0.2 / April 2011)
AngelinaBelle:
Absolutely. You can go through the install files by hand and do all the edits yourself, then copy the files back up to the server.
But for a big mod like this, I cannot recommend this approach.
There is some reason the install failed. My initial guess was that it has something to do with file permissions and CHMOD. The easiest trick to try is the Packages/temp trick. If ownership/permissions turn out not to be the problem, then perhaps there is something more subtle going on with the install instructions. But I don't know what that would be.
Nefastus:
Ok, but just to be sure, I create a temp folder under Packages directory, set it to 777 permission, and then install Wiki mod through Package Manager on my website? If that's the case, I already tried it earlier with the same result, but I will try again.
AngelinaBelle:
I'm sorry. I must have missed where you said you had tried that.
Who is your host? Is 777 permitted on your host, for use with web stuff?
On my host, 1and1, 777 is not permitted. You can set it, but "nothing" web-related will work, and can result in 500 errors if the forum directory is set to 777.
755 could be used instead.
Similary, for files, 655 or 645 could be used.
Nefastus:
I use Powweb.com I was able to change directory permission to 777 without any problems, and other large mod Simple Portal installed fine, it's wierd :/
AngelinaBelle:
It is weird.
