One...ok..two important questions.

(1/2) > >>

CrashGordon:
I recently inherited a phpBB2 forum which I successfully converted to phpBB3, only to discover it has one ugly feature/bug.  It opens links in the same window, taking users away from the forum.  I've noticed here that links to other sites open in new tabs/windows, so I guess I've answered my first question.  My second question is does anyone plan to change that behaviour in future releases?  If not, I'll convert our current forum to SMF.

Trekkie101:
Nope, SMF supports both.

New window to Star Trek
Inline to Star Trek

--- Code: ---New window to Star Trek
[iurl=www.startrek.com]Inline to Star Trek[/iurl]
--- End code ---

Trekkie101:
Apparently also, phpBB just used your browser preferences, according to their FAQ.

CrashGordon:
Thank goodness!

Actually, while most browsers allow you to choose between opening new windows or tabs, I can't think of any setting that makes the browser force a new tab/window for all links clicked on, so saying if follows browser preferences, while accurate, isn't helpful.

K@:
Depends on the browser.

Opera has those preferences as standard. Firefox has, but nowhere near as well as Opera does, unless you install the "TabMix" add-on.

Dunno about IE, or Chrome. But, one would assume they do, too.
