To say this support thread is massive is an understatement.

I have a problem... and I don't know if it's been answered because... well... the size of this thread is daunting.

No matter what I set the permissions at in user permissions or album permissions,  regular users can create albums all day long but none of them show either ADD AN ITEM options... so how do my users upload images?

Arantor

You should have seen it when it had its own *board*.

Anyway, an album gets a permission profile from the Aeva permissions area, and it's in there that you assign what permissions users have for a given album. Sounds to me like you didn't set any profile to allow uploads.

If i paste the vimeo url https://vimeo.com/38948271 it just writes it as a link and if i remove the s to http:// it says "Sorry. There was an error encountered when loading this video".

SMF 2.0.2 and Aeva 7.2.

Youtube works just fine.

This is a major bug.

When I switch to the 'New' Vimeo on their site, it kills my embeds. Switching back to 'old Vimeo' and the embeds are fine. The embed code used by Aeva is old. It is using the depreciated Flash code when it should be using the new iFrame code.

PLEASE FIX

Is there no solution?

Arantor

The embed code is the old embed code. It is unlikely that it will be fixed in Aeva as its author is no longer supporting it after what happened almost two years ago.

Is there a thread that explains what happened as I've seen this referenced before but have no idea the history.  Sounds very interesting.

Arantor

I don't want to discuss it here. Other sites discuss the reason Nao left SMF to break off and create a new build of SMF with Aeva integrated, called Wedge. I'm not allowed to link to it here, however.

Kindred

lol...  well, if you guys used an Open Source license.......... :P

Anyway...   as Arantor says, the author is not supporting this any more. We leave it here because it pretty much works just peachy as already written.

Given the events that occurs after Wedge began, I hope you of all people would understand why that isn't going to happen any time soon.

Hi, I'm running Aeva Media 1.4w on SMF 1.1.16 and noticed that when I click on pdfs in an album they don't display like photos and movies do. Is that is how it is supposed to be? Instead the pdf downloads to me computer. Is it possible to have it display on a single click within an Aeva Media album? If so, how? Thanks heaps,    :P  Jane

Arantor

It's not possible in Aeva Media without a fair amount of work, and I don't see that being implemented even for the current non-SMF version of Aeva, let alone the unsupported SMF one.

Well, that's my dirty hack:

1. Open Sources/Subs-Aeva-Sites.php
   a) Find string:
'movie' => 'http://assets.vimeo.com/flash/moogaloop/5.0.5/moogaloop.swf?v=5.0.5&clip_id=$2&server=vimeo.com&fullscreen=1&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=01AAEA',
   b) Replace it to:
'movie' => 'http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=$2&server=vimeo.com&fullscreen=1&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=01AAEA',

2. Go to Administration/Mod Settings/Aeva sites/Popular Sites
   a) Switch "Vimeo" to OFF and Save settings;
   b) Switch "Vimeo" to ON and Save settings.

Now Vimeo embedding must working a correctly.

Anyone tried below?

As soon as an image is added in gallery, it should update FB with the link to image along with thumbnail (like the SMF posts)?

This is not a particular feature with this mod and highly doubtful it will ever be.

Arantor

Actually, it sort of is doable. Every album has an RSS feed (go into the album and you'll see a little orange icon with a link to 'items' and 'comments'), you can hook that feed up to a post-to-FB service (I know there are some but I don't know offhand what) and go from there, though it may or may not give you a preview.

I have problems with Vimeo Videos and get the following Error:

Just a cautionary note.

My site was hacked a couple of months back and couldnt find out the source. One thing happened today that also happened at the time the site was first hacked, and only those times.

This was related to playing movies in Aeva media. It shows a plugin required and link to download. Someone clicked it and got a virus warning... and infection. So much for their security shield.
Last time the site had trouble I also tried using the aeva movie plugin download link. It didn't work playing the movies either. These actions only happened twice and both coincidentally related to virus trouble through SMF/Aeva media.

I know some so called free firefox plugins from dodgy commercial site have caused similar problems.

Not sure if this error message is related.

Are the RSS stuff part of standard Aeva Media?
I can not see any little orange icons in the albums on my site, (Aeva Media 1.4w).
It looks like the RSS stuff is part of the Foxy addon, (which I would buy if it was still possible).

Aeva.template.php:
$can_rss = $context['aeva_foxy'] && function_exists('aeva_foxy_rss');
