OK I was right trying to install backup of database on to PHPMy Admin, however how do I make the file smaller as it is too large?

Good luck. I tried Fasthosts last year and dumped them, their mysql system is terrible. Their databases are not on the same hosting as your domains.

Plus they charge you £25 for any additional databases. I went back to Hostroute where you get 5 databases free.

There is no way to make it smaller without losing some sort of info. There was a script for large databases called Big Dump I think it was. Here, this may help you out:
