i don't think it allows on-page edit for the default theme, in admin.  you have to make a copy of it, then you can go in and edit.  is that what you mean?

Actually, it's because the files are not writable.  They need to be 777.

oh... also we're having some weird javascript errors with.... just about everything...

ok, I think I found the poblem... Even though the thing says its in the converted folder all the stuff is in the default folder... even though I edited the stuff in the converted folder with ftp to change the index.template.php, I changed the permissions on the index.template.php files and it unlocked the save button...
