How to force password change on first login?

I am currently setting up a new instance of SMF.

I need to bulk upload ~3500 users. I know how to do this so not a problem there.

Because I will be setting a simple password as part of the bulk creation is there a way (mod or anything, I searched and couldn't find anything) to allow them to log in for the first time with the password I have set and then force them to change the password?

If that was me, I'd just send a mass PM telling people to change their passwords, PDQ.

That's what I will do but I was hoping there was a way of enforcing it on first login.

I'm assuming that there'd be a way to code it. But, for a one-off thing, like this, I wonder if it'd be worth someone's efforts, to be honest.
