On this board, in post editor, 'large' or 'largest' textsize in IE8 with compat view enabled or disabled.  Does not happen in FF5.0  zoom text.

I don't have this problem in IE8. What OS + OS version are you using?

Well fancy that. Something else really basic that IE8 can't deal with. ;D

I've said that too in some cases, usually best to let the reporter verify the solution works rather than assuming that because it works for you, that it works for everyone else.
