When i enter a category (which has inside different sections), is possible to click in the category and view not all the forum, but just the sections inside the category?

By default, the first page shows all the categories and within them, the top level boards and their descriptions. If you click on the category bar, you can collapse/uncollapse its board list. Are you looking to make "collapsed" the default behavior for everyone? I would be concerned that visitors would think there was nothing there and leave your site. Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking for... could you give an example (or link to an IPB board that does this)? I see http://forums.oscommerce.com, but it behaves much the same way as SMF does.

It shows the boards (SMF terminology) under the category. It sounds like what you want is the SMF front page with only one category showing, not because you collapsed all the others, but because you clicked on it to put it on a page by itself? Frankly, I don't see that it adds any additional information; nor does it make things all that much neater to have only one category on a page. Could you explain what advantage you would see in doing this? It looks like IPB has a separate collapse/expand button and otherwise, clicking on the category simply brings it to a page all by itself. Clicking on a board link skips the step of showing just the one category and then selecting a board from that. I suppose it could be done in SMF, but before anyone puts in the effort to do that, I think they'll want to see that it offers a clear advantage over what we have now.

IPB:
  list categories and boards   --- click category ---> list boards in one category
