Cannot make boards invisible to restricted member group
(1/1)
buzzybee:
There is probably a really easy answer to this but I've looked through the help here and none of the solutions have worked.
I want to restrict a member group (named: business) to view only 3 of my boards in my forum. I have created the member group 'business' to have only those 3 boards (say A, B and C) visible and have made sure that when I look through all the board settings that the ''member group is not checked as being visible except for boards A, B and C. I have also unchecked the regular members group from being able to view all of the boards.
However, the business group can still view all the boards and topics. What could I be doing wrong?
Sorry in advance for being an idiot....
Illori:
there is no way to deny access to boards, so if you have a post count based group with access to certain boards and this group with access to other boards they will get access to both sets of boards.

Just thinking out-loud, here...
If you have post-count groups and non-post-count groups, you may have members who are in two groups and they could be getting permissions from either one.
My forum has no post-count groups for this very reason. ;)

In the past I was able to restrict what boards would show up when they would login, why is this different now.

Funny thing. I am having the same issue. I created a new membergroup with access to only one board which resides in it's own category. The membergorup is also un-checked (Restricted) for every other board on the forum. When logging in under a test member under that specific membergroup all boards are still visible.
I have been using SMF since it's birth and have never had this issue before. ???
