Anecdota theme
rob54:
I quite like this theme and like to install it. I use SMF version 1.1.10 (default theme). There are two files shown to download the Anecdota theme - Anecdota2rc12.zip (354KB) and Anecdota117.zip (294KB). Which one do I use? And when downloaded (presumably to a folder on my computer), presumably the zip file has to be expanded. Does this happen when browsed to the zip file in Themes and Layout Settings>Install a New Theme by selecting whatever zip file it is supposed to be?
Then in the Install an new theme section, it already shows the .../themes folder, but below that it has section "Create a copy of Default named:" and it has "theme2" in that box. Is that to preserve the original? Also do Classic YaBB SE and Babylon stay put as now when this new one is installed.
So - which zip file, does the zip get expanded when the Install button is pressed, and what about the theme2 thing?
If I successfully get it installed and switch to it would I be able to edit the title where it says My Community, which actually isn't bad as it stands for starters.
Sorry loads of questions :-[
Thanks a lot in advance
Arantor:
First up, use the 117.zip - the other file is for SMF 2.0, while you're using 1.1.10.
The zip file should be installed when you press Install, and you can ignore theme2 - basically that's for when you're making your own theme, you tend to start with a copy of the default one, so you just use that to make a copy automatically.

Thank you. Installed successfully. I'll come back to how to change the headings away from My Community to something else later on.
Arantor:
Changing the headings: Admin panel > Server Settings, and it's in there.

OK I have that and it already has the title in there that shows as a title in the Default theme and also Babylon, but not in Classic YaBB SE theme (the standard option themes). In Default and Anecdota there is the crumbtrail menu starting with the title and a nested menu for this in Babylon and YaBB.
I suppose it'll need some editing of one of the files of Anecdota to get a title right at the top in place of "My Community" which is there as standard. As I mentioned "My Community" is reasonable name as standard even if it can't be altered but I'd rather have my preferred title as I have now in Default etc.
Thanks for you help. I have my forum live but not released to members of my group (a Yahoo Group) as yet. But this is in expectation of maybe being asked about a forum and website for someone else (another support group), so I'm practising, so to speak with mine. Hopefully they will find someone more knowledgeable than me!!
Thanks for your help thus far.
