No Word Press Bridge?

(1/1)

ShoeLace1291:
As popular as the WordPress CMS is,  I'm very surprised that SMF doesn't offer a bridge for it.  How come?

Doctor Deejay:
Actually there is a bridge available here: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3008 It says that it's only compatible with SMF 2.0 RC5, but you can use Version Emulation. :)

Arantor:
Thing is, WordPress isn't really a CMS, it's also an inefficient horrible mess under the hood (seriously: fresh install = 20 queries just to display the front page)

And you can quite happily run a site using SMF and a portal mod and achieve almost everything - and get the benefits that it runs faster and out of the box gets you a consistent theme.

Kindred:
yup... to expand on what Arantor said:

1- WordPress is a blog software with some site-type features... it is not a CMS.
Joomla is a CMS. Drupal is a CMS. Mambo is a CMS... etc. WordPress is not.

2- WordPress is a blog system...   Blogs are intended to be one person's thoughts, with maybe some responses to those thoughts. SMF is a forum system... Forums are intended to foster a community, where everyone posts and responds.
Blog != community;
While there are some sites which have blogs for members (one of mine actually does this, so that users with projects can document progress) I can think of no useful reason to have a forum as a sub-site to a WordPress blog.
