Is it possible to delete multiple users at once?

(1/2) > >>

Sagiv:
I woke up the other day and I have about FOURTY pages of new users and the all seem to be SPAM bots. I changed my verification options so it hopefully cuts down on this happening about but now I have probably over a thousand accounts I need to purge. I'd rather not to do one at a time. Is there a way to mass purge?

Sagiv:
Not possible?

It has been 4 hours since your first post. Please give a minimum of 24 hours before bumping your thread. Everyone here are volunteers and so aren't always online and don't have to answer questions.

Anyhow, you could go to maintenance in the admin section and go to user maintenance. There are some possibilities for deleting accounts (e.g. those that haven't been activated) in there. You may wish to try them.

Otherwise it is possible by editing your database directly. However I would not advise you not doing this unless you know what you're doing as it's very easy to delete every last user using this method.

The problem with a mass delete option is it can catch genuine accounts too.  So you have to be careful.

The bluntest tool is in admin > maintenance > members.  Most bots won't have activated so you can purge your non activated accounts.

More selective, but which will take you a lot more clicks, but allows you to check the accounts before deletion is admin > members > and from the manage members section you may be able to search for members registering on your chosen date.  From the displayed list, check the top right,(which will then check all the members on the page), and from the bottom pull down option you can then deleted.

Looking into this now. Thank you.
