Restoring an old database (1and1)

<< < (2/2)

K@:
Maybe you ought to have a few words, with them.

Like "How do I manage my databases?". ;)

I've had a message from on high...

--- Quote ---Open the database backup with a text editor, you will find a line that has the db name on it, you might need to edit that or delete it then you will be able to upload the backup to any database.

the line might look like

--- Code: ---use databasename;
--- End code ---

--- End quote ---

if that helps?

Well, spoke with 1and1 and they've told me that you can't change the name of a database... it's all preassigned. Makes no sense! I've canceled. :)

Thanks anyway, will mark this as solved!

Good plan! They're almost as bad as GoDaddy!

Moved over to another provider (HostGator, which I know isn't much better than 1and1 but at least I get to name my own databases!).

Had some minor issues with restoring my old database, found out it was because I was trying to use SMF 2.0 on a 1.1 database, so I installed the old 1.1, upgraded to 2.0 and now it's all good.

Thanks again for all your help!!

Good to know you got there, in the end, matey!
