It has been awhile since I've looked at the SMF control panel; but isn't there an option to disable it from within there without messing with code? (I'm like, 40% sure on this) haha, sorry.

Admin -> Features and Options -> Track daily statistics removes the [More Stats] link, which shows Statistics Center, but doesn't change the basic info displayed in BoardIndex.

and she wants to turn off the display of everything except the forum history... the setting is either all on or all off...
