Best way to grab people's attention?

Youtube is generally not viable for getting conversions unless you spam it or have extremely high quality content for competitive keywords.

If you want members, paid advertising would be the fastest route.  You can try with PPC (although google doesn't allow copyrighted/trademarked things like sonic) or others like:
1) Media buys.  Buy a spot on a specific site for a set amount of time.  You would want something related to gaming.
2) Newsletters.  Buy a spot in an emailing to advertise your site
3) Paid referral.  Give members money for referring active people


There's some other ways as well, but it gets more expensive and complex.  If the first two don't work then none of the rest would likely either.
