smd:
is there any sort of readme for installation? I downloaded it and i couldnt find anything of the sort. and the FAQ and support areas seem to still be empty
i tried uploading it all (does it matter what mode it is uploaded in)
after i set the stuff, like its going to be at www.thsband.org/smf, so thats the folder i should have put in the settings file right? I'm just really new to this
it keeps giving me an error : Cannot connect to database server with given data!

Please check the information you provided, and then try again
when i try to set it up
any help would be appreciated

once you set up the database, upload all the files that were in the install package, and run http://yoursite.com/forums/install.php. It should take you step by step from that point on. Don't forget to delete install.php once your forums are set up.

Funnily enough, that information seems to be missing from the installation/upgrade guides...

Normally ASCII for text-based files and binary for images, but we should clarify that in the guides!
