So my question(s):
What is the very best way to back these up in case a break something along the way, can/should i DL a copy of the directory ,which method for backing up DB? Ive used both the SMF database backup and the one in my cpanel.
Then then best method for updating each, i don't mind "killing" the theme so to speak, as it may be just time to clear and restart with B, ive done so many minor mods in code i don't know what is done is what isn't, kinda of a cathartic restart so to speak as long as the content is preserved.
Thanks for the attention and advice

:)
Your themes and mods will die. No question.
That's one reason why my own forum is still on v1.1.16 and is likely to remain so, for a long time. ;)
Nodaz:
Thanks, i'll likely upgrade the first board and see how it goes.
WHAR is it about 2.x.xx that is "better"?
K@:
That's a matter of opinion, mate.
I happen to HATE it.
But, have a look around the forum. A lot of people seem to prefer it. So, it's entirely up to you. ;)
If you backup, first (Don't forget the database!), you could always revert back, if you want to.
Arantor:
2.0 does have features that 1.1.x doesn't, certainly, and I'd argue it performs better. Plus there are many mods now that are 2.0 only.
The only arguments I see in favour of 1.1.x now are related to mods that haven't been updated and 'it's harder to theme' except that I have yet to see a 1.1.x theme that could not be made into a 2.0 theme.
