Preview another board

I surely hope this has been done before and I am not searching for the correct terms, but here goes.

I would like to have a preview of the top 5-10 topics in another board on my main board.  This would be at the top or even as a sidebar.  Any suggestions?

If I've understood "5-10 topics in another board on my main board" correctly, Simple Portal has a pre-configured block to do exactly that. I'd suspect that other portals may have the same.

What K@ suggests works great but keep the number as low as poss as you can sometimes get a performance hit due to the nature of the query.
