How can I acquire 2RC2 from its owner?

the license stands as it is, you can not "own" it as the license does not allow it. we dont need to vote on something that the license would not allow as it is.

also as 2.0 is based on RC2 it would not be possible to transfer the ownership to anyone else.

do we have to say one more time that you can not acquire it? the license which is in place since before that version was released does not allow anyone to do so.

you can not own code that the current release is based on without causing issues within the NPO and the developers and contributors of that code.

As President of Simple Machines I will make the declaration you seek - SMF 2.0RC2 is not for sale.
There is no way to "acquire" it. You can do whatever you wish on your own forum/site, but we will never allow 2.0RC2 to be sold or otherwise redistributed.

Then you have the problem of devaluing what could be one of your assets by taking it off the market. It's your funeral; your members should be upset that you deny a group asset to be capitalized.
