You're right, there isn't in 1.x, but since the copyright can't be changed, it's sort of moot anyway. (Though there is a credits listing in 1.x)

I get where you're going but given how it's in the footer, I would imagine that would generate a lot more traffic here at sm.org than would be desirable.

I object to where I see things being handled unfairly or incorrectly; I'm not averse to changing some of these things (as you might know if you looked around certain places), but I feel that too few people stand up for the rights of others. That's not my trying to be a hero or a nuisance, it's doing what I see as the right thing, rightly or wrongly.

I personally see removing the credits as unfair, even when I've been part of experiments to encourage keeping it in, like actually including the site's own people in the credits page to indicate that they're part of the site and that the software is something else.

Just because you can do something does not mean you should, and I'm not sure how your suggestion will improve things compared to how it is now (offloading the credits to here doesn't change the fact that it would still be linked in the footer)

Lets then discuess the difference between these two:

1) "Thanks to SMF team who made it come to today"

2) "This web site uses SMF software made by SM team"

Btw yes SMF 1.x disallowed removal of the copyright but didn't offer anything for mod credits which you explicitly put forward as a reason.

1.x didn't have a publicly visible credits page - it was introduced in 2.x for mods primarily, and since that's what we're discussing rather then the general copyright notice, it didn't seem relevant to split hairs over it, but I'm as willing as you are to do that.

1) and 2) are very different things, which is why they have two of the three footer links between them. Which ones do you want to argue about removing?

(Mind you, it's all moot until the OP decides what exactly he wants to remove, seeing how I get the impression he discovered it from Who's Online because people were there)
