I found another SMF thread (I used CCleaner so my link is gone for it) that recommended going to

Admin>Server Settings and renaming the cookie to see if that helped. Notta. I'm going to contact Host Gator and ask them to restart the webserver.

I contacted Host Gator and since I am on a shared plan they said they couldn't re-start it. They said unless the Php was in the root directory (which I don't have access to), a re-start wouldn't be necessary anyways.

They mean root directory of your account. A restart is not necessary. The changes will take effect immediately.
