NChat - No SQL Save BW shoutbox
beanflying:
Not sure what the protocol is here but as this mod appears to have become an orphan of sorts :-\ Do we continue to try and keep it running and updates or just let it go?
I have been running a possible (popular) alternate in tandem with this one due to this and Nchat kicks it's butt for general operations. The others updates to shouts are flakey at best so unless a manual update is pressed you can miss the conversation.
In running them in tandem I have been playing with the formatting of the chats and bashed them into (what I think) a cleaner looking layout. Currently running new chats at the top right under the text entry box. Couple of screens below of the layout.
** Should mention that the upshrink arrows on the header are not yet coded but the link to opt of of chat is. Basically goes straight to select member groups which I have set up a special one for the boring members who don't want to play ;)
Still a few bits to tweak but if anyone is interested in a copy of my nchatboardindex as it is happy to pop a copy up here if that is kosher?

Hi nvcnvn, this your NChat is even good but unfortunately, it lacks some functions for excellence
It lacks:
Option which is possible to turn off BBCode: B, U, I, and choice of the list of colours
It lacks:
Option of history through which it would be possible to see entries in NChat which went down in history something in the style nneonneo's Shoutbox in history.txt to that history be saved somewhere on the FTP. This option is useful to the Administrator so that he can know what entries were on NChat.
It lacks also options:
Ban users/unban users, list of banned users
Turn on and turn off shoutbox
Change the name of NChat that it can set its own name
Of option "/clear" which is being sent as the message and it cleaning entries
Access only for the Administrator.
If this shoutbox give to another template let's assume for the dark colour is displayed on the left the white line
I marked on screen:
i49.tinypic.com/25oxcfr.jpg
There is also a white line at the bottom but I think it must be to indicates dissociation of chat.
You have to take a good look to notice this. On screen is little invisible
I think that these are all suggestions, you could enter them into the next version NChat?

hello people I got a problem:
my chat used to work very well but since a month or two nobody can see the content of the chat box which remains blank, white.
NChatMess.php gets however populated, as I read it via ftp.
Php error log tells me:
--- Code: ---[Tue Aug 28 11:07:42 2012] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] client denied by server configuration: /home/xxx/domains/xxxxxx.com/public_html/NChat/last.html, referer: http://www.xxxxxx.com/index.php
--- End code ---
and
--- Code: ---xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [28/Aug/2012:07:42:17 +0200] "POST /NChat/last.html HTTP/1.1" 200 415 "http://www.xxxxx.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/xxxxxxxxx Safari/537.1"
--- End code ---
i tried to rename last.html --> last.php (and properly modify any reference inside the two files)
tried to move last.html to other paths
tried to chmod it to various other values (666, 755, 777)
but it seems all futile
I am on a cheap hosting, so no chance to change any php configuration setting, how may I work it out?
Thanks...
beanflying:
Occasionally in the past the NChatmess.php has become corrupted so the simple solution for me has been to uninstall, reinstall NChat then recopy my modded NChatBoardIndex.php file back over the original.
Crude but it has worked for me.
As best as I can determine is seems to break after a user posts one or more really long chats either near or over the limit I have set. I have never bothered to try and debug it as it is a simple fix and the chat while really nice doesn't effect the forum.

Thank you very much indeed beanflying.
Any other suggestion whitout having to reinstall?
