2.0 RC3: GM approve attachment - not shown in log.

<< < (4/5) > >>

Arantor:
Norv: I did get that impression, SD's logging system is more involved because it potentially logs everything - but admins can actually change what is logged, each group of log items is optional.

You're right, if it's not a moderation action it doesn't need to be logged, however the earlier posts in this topic refer to removal of attachments not being logged either, which likely IS a moderation action, especially if the person making the edit isn't the post author.

N. N.:
So, here, what it is to see:
- approvals of attachments logging (if attachment approval by a moderator is necessary)
- removals of attachments logging - if the action is made by a moderator (do others think this should be logged, too?)
- adding attachments logging - if the addition is made by a moderator (again, what do people think, would logging it be really useful?)

ѕησω:
I think removal of attachments should be logged. As an Administrator, i would like to know if the Author removed the attachment, or one of my moderators.

As for adding attachments logging, will it log from creation of Topic/reply, or only if it is modified than attached?

You would know that if it only logs removals done by Moderators, since otherwise it's done by the author... Well, assuming you knew there was an attachment there in the first place...

I don't know, which do you think would be needed? Personally I don't really see any ... but more opinions are welcome.

Please keep in mind also that on a busy forum, logging all these operations - done by post authors - can be really a significant number of log entries, which defeats the purpose in a sense, because it makes the log unreadable, heh.

ѕησω:
Your right, i guess i was assuming that the moderator could be un-trustworthy for some reason, mainly because I've had one in the past.

As for the second, the odds of a moderator attaching something to somebody else's post is low. When i really think about, its not needed.
