So what's the problem?
I don't understand. You said you want to get rid of memcached and now you do want to have memcached and are going to install it again...? (Apparently while you havent even uninstalled it first according to your first post?)
You are being very vague...

Run this command:
ps aux | grep memcached

If it only returns something like:
root     21542  0.0  0.0  61208   784 pts/0    S+   18:46   0:00 grep memcached

And nothing else, then memcached is not running.
So, if that is the case and you think that running memcached on the server caused you some issues: it is not as it's not running so it can't cause any problem at all.

Reinstalling the OS makes no sense at all ;)

I think it will be a very good idea for you to start learning how to use the operating system on your server.
If you don't understand how it works; it's best not to start playing with it as you will have more chance of messing it up than getting it to work ;)

There are many guides on learning CentOS and Linux in general.
It will be a very good idea for you to follow them, reinstalling every time you have a problem that you do not understand how you caused it is not going to save you forever :P

Good luck :)
