Wii U - Nintendo's next console

Well, Nintendo announced what was codenamed around as Project Cafe at E3.

The console itself, is pretty bland. It features backwards compatibility with all Wii games, and accessories, and is in HD as well, featuring at least one HDMI port. The data is stored on flash memory with SD cards and USB ports available for additional space. Which is stupid in my book, what's wrong with a 2.5" Harddrive? You'd get far more content onto your device.

The real thing of interest though is the controller:

The obvious feature on it is the 6.2 inch touch screen. It can be used to take a game from the TV elsewhere while another person uses it for something else, but a key thing is that it is NOT a portable device, so it can't leave the house. It can be used to augment the game on the TV. One demo featured it being used to throw shurikens at a tree, and to transfer a video from the controller to the TV.

In terms of buttons it has two analog sticks, a D-Pad, 4 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons, along with +/- and Home.

It features a forward Camera and Microphone for Video Chat as well as an accelerometer.

Nintendo always do innovate, but this is taking the cake, how much will a controller like that cost?

Looks nice but the i hear the price tag will hurt it's sales.

Gary:
That depends on what the price tag actually is, Nintendo hasn't announced it yet.

Asphered:
That sounds like a total ripoff from the ps3. you can hook up your psp to your ps3 and play it without the tv on.

Gary:
Well, you can only play very few PS3 games on your PSP. PS1 Classics don't count as they're designed to be compatible with both in the first place.
