Invision Power Board support is free no more...
Juvenall Wilson:
I run a copy of every board I can get my hands on and personally, iBF ranks near the bottom of my list (just above UBB..lol). I just don't like the way it feels..at all.
..but then again, what do I know ;D
Skoen:
Invision going paid. I know a whole lot of forums going to pieces there. Good thing I only tested Invision. I think in fact that Invision board is more difficult to configure than phpBB, but YaBBSE/SMF is still and always will be the best board.
And I'm willing to join in on the PR campaign for the new SMF, just give me a banner and I'll be on it immediately

don't know why, since I can't find any reason why I would...
But yeah, this is going to cost them users, so go get'em fellas

I'm with you on this as well ;)
And I'm sure that IBF will loose many fans because of going paid...
Some time ago I've post several polls about forum software on various communities and put links to them here it maybe interesting to see for some of you what people think about forums software.
Also I don't rank iBF too high as well and post to which I referred confirming this ;D I think that main competitor of SMF could be phpBB.

I already start to promote SMF by telling my friends and posting messages on few boards I participate on, and by submitting to open diretories where I'm editing so let's hope that SMF will conquer forum industry in near future ;D
By the way Skoen what do you mean by public relation are there some special group which engaged in promoting this software if so can I participate there officially or not officially and where can I get more info on this?

That mostly means we have to just do more leg work. Most people already considered YaBB SE as better than phpBB... SMF is even better...

It isn't going paid. They are just making it so that you can only get *support* by paying. From what I understand they are still offering free software, they just want to offload the support for non-paying people.
