Are we fresh obsessed?
Les Mackenzie:
Matrix Revolutions 'a clamorous, soulless barrage'
*/ note to self, take a deep breath
wtf?
One of the coolest movie franchises of all time but people keep dumping on it... I think the problem is people find a cool thing, beat it to death with the recycle stick and then expect another super innovative, state-of-the-art, edgy creation every six months.
The fact is, if the original Matrix didn't introduce 'bullet-time', people wouldn't expect them to create the next cool thing. I haven't seen Matrix: Revolutions but it can't be as bad as some of the other movies out there since the original was released.
Are we as a world fresh obsessed?
Chris Cromer:
I know that people hate the Matrix movies soley on the fact that they don't understand it. Such as my mom and sister, they don't understand the concept of living in a technolgical dream world.:-\
Tyris:
hmmmm
--- Quote ---It's as if brothers Larry and Andy Wachowski, as writers and directors, had more fun obsessing over the minutiae of their universe than any moviegoer (aside from fetishists and fanboys) will ever enjoy watching.

Isn't that saying theres to much small special hidden stuff...? In other words.. that reviewer was too dumb to pick em up...? wonder how many times he saw Matrix 1 ;)
I havnt seen Revs yet... but I'm a die-hard matrix fan... pick up as much stuff as possible from as many viewings... and I'm confident the film will rock. There are so many little things that watching again can make you pick up, and for that the films own!
--- Quote ---By now, though, they have a pervading seen-that-before feeling -- even when the Wachowskis literally turn the fighting on its head.

the last line... and like the summary.... he seems to be missing the point that the Brothers are the ones who 'invented that feeling'. Those kinda things is what the Matrix is about (in terms of action). This last film should really be about wrapping the series up... and the reviewer hasnt mentioned that at all.... Once I see it thought I guess I'll have more right to comment... I just often find the people who complain are the people who only got a small section of the story.
*edit* Just a bit on what Chris said:
yeah, lots of people fail to understand it... and this guy seems to not analyse the storyline at all... he only focus' on the visual and very 'simple' story elements... which seems to suggest he doent really understand it (or she...? meh). Visually... films like Matrix and Lord of the Rings have taken things to such a high level.. thats the places to go for visual effects are starting to run thin. They've made it hard even for themselves, so a film shouldn't really considered bad if it "only looks as good as the matrix"... Matrix was awesome... so what if this one isn't really that much better...
Bouminok:
I think people judge too much stuff at face value, and to be honest, thats what this reviewer has done.
Tyris:
yeah, especially for this kinda film... stuff that is like 400 layers deep... if you only analise the first layer, then its not gonna look at all good...
I could imagine this guy hating the first one, and then just saying its good coz everyone else did ;D
