Adding Page To Profile - Computer Specs

Background: I have been looking around for a way that would allow users to fill in their computer specs, and display them on their profile...but have not had any luck so far. I know I could use the Custom Fields that are available in SMF 2, but I already have so much information/fields there that I would like it separated.

Problem: I am looking for a way someone would go about adding a linked page to the users profile, that would allow them (the users of the forum) to fill in/ show off all of their computer specs. I would say it would also be nice to only show this to registered users, or even better specified groups. Going a step further, maybe allocating the Custom Profile field abilities, that are already present, just to this new page would be easiest - allowing admins to customize the fields as they please (adding/taking away).

Mod Material: This could turn into good Mod material. Making an easy way for admins to add a new page/section to users profile pages. Maybe a title for the page, and using the Custom Fields addition in 2.0 this could make a nice addition to the community...  ;)


I know what I consider to be a little about code, but I have big ideas. I appreciate anyone who has anything to offer!  8)

It could be done using some profile fields, the downside of that is that it depends on the theme your users are using, that is, if you use multiple themes then your users will need to specify all the specs for every theme you might have.

Dear OP, have try any of the profile mod like Ultimate Profile mod? Try to look at one especially the one suggested. You might be surprised as to what readily available already.
