How do I make SMF the main page of domain?

301 redirects make things better, you tell search engines you moved everything + you loose such little for some then you gain more because more sub-folder you use, your content became less important (Google says it)

What other alternative? You can either redirect or move the content. Like the previous users have said, adding a 301 would actually help your SEO.

Wow, what I thought was a mistake I made over 5 years ago has ended up helping my SEO.

Try using this in your root folder for now until you decide what to do. As it is now its not very inviting to anyone. This will redirect to your smf folder.

Why not add an actual 301 then?
